Reviews

Treated myself to two prints for my 50th. Memories of my hill walking trips to Snowdonia. Really pleased with the print quality when they arrived. I have them in my hallway and visitors always comment on them.

Helen H (Harrogate)

Bought two prints from the website, one for myself and one as a Christmas present. Brilliant reminders of family visits to special places. Print quality excellent – they look great on the wall!

Richard G (Shropshire)

Delighted with the three prints we chose. Selected images of the local area to frame and display in our holiday home. Main problem was deciding which ones to have!

Frequently Asked Questions

What size prints can I buy?

Most of the work is printed A3 or A4 size. This means that the customer can purchase a standard mount and frame from any local shop without the expense of having one custom made.  For an A3 print a 20 x 16 inch frame (with an A3 mount) and for an A4 print, a 16 x 12 inch frame (with an A4 mount). If you would like a larger size than A3 I can outsource the print work to another company. For this I use Pixel Printer on Anglesey. For panoramic prints a custom mount and frame will be required due to the non standard size.  The panoramic paper I use is  8 1/4 by 23 1/4 inches (210 X 594mm)

Will the watermark be removed?

All images on my website in the Gallery section have a small water mark at the bottom of the page. This is only for website display purposes and will not be on the printed version,  which is a much higher resolution image.

How do I pay for my prints?

Payment via the website is secure and encrypted using credit card payment or Paypal. The packing and postage within the UK is a flat rate of £4.50 and will be added at Checkout.  I usually send prints first class post by recorded delivery. If overseas postage is required please contact me first to discuss.

What camera do you use and how do you edit your work?

I mainly use a Canon 6D full frame camera with ‘L’ grade Canon lenses. I also have a Fuju XT1 which has become my main travel photography camera as it is so portable. I shoot all my images in ‘Raw’ which is the digital negative and edit them in Adobe Lightroom. I aim to give a true representation of the image I saw at the time I pressed the shutter, so do not over manipulate or over saturate my images. Believe me, at 4am in the morning, the colours provided by ‘mother nature’  do not need any more editing than the basics required for turning a Raw image into a printable TIFF or JPEG file.

Do you do photography presentations?

Yes,  I have done several talks for camera clubs and for the Royal Geographical Society (local groups).  Presentations are generally 90 minutes long.  I have two main talks titled ‘Have Camera will Travel’ and ‘From Sea to Summit; a Photographers Journey’.

If you would like further information please use the Contacts page.

Do you print the work yourself?

All work is printed by myself on a professional Epson printer using archival Epson inks.   This gives me full control of the printing process.   I mainly use Fotospeed ‘Smooth Pearl’ 290gsm inkjet paper,  but for some images I also offer the option of a ‘Fine Art Print’ using Platinum Baryta 300. This is 100% acid free and gives superb results in both colour  and monochrome work.  I use custom ICC profiles for each paper  to ensure accurate colour rendition. Please be aware that when printing,  a border of a few cm’s  will be left around the print. This is for mounting purposes but also helps sit the image within the mount and looks better in my opinion. This is how I present all my gallery work.

How will my prints arrive and how long will it take?

The prints are rolled and placed in a cardboard tube for posting. When they arrive you should unroll and leave flat for  few days before mounting and framing.  If required you can place a heavy object like a book at the edges but please take care not to damage / scratch the print area. Although I try and post prints to customers as quickly as I can, there may be occasions when I am away on a photography trip or travelling, and in these instances I will email and let you know. Generally I aim for them to be received within a week of purchasing via the website.

Will the image be exactly the same as I have viewed on my phone/tablet/PC?

All monitors show a slightly different tonal image depending on calibration. My printing PC and Epson printer are calibrated using a  Spyder calibration system which means that the print is exactly the same as viewed on my monitor. This may of course not be exactly the same as you are viewing on you personal phone/tablet etc but the variation, if any will be minimal.

Can I buy the digital image?

In a short answer, ‘No’. I only sell digital work to magazines and guidebooks as there are very strict copyright laws and reproduction without permission is not allowed without my initial consent. This would be very hard to monitor if sending a large resolution digital image to a private customer.

Do you sell your work elsewhere?

Yes, I sell work in a few Galleries. The Tourist Information Centre in Llangollen and the Galeri in Betwys y Coed. There you will find a range of mounted and framed work.

I ordered the wrong print, can I return it?

No, I am afraid if you ordered the wrong print this will not be refunded so you must take care to select the correct one. If for some reason you are not happy with the print I would advise you contact me as soon as possible to discuss. As I personally check each print before posting I will only send out work that has been printed to the highest standard.

Is there a discount if I order more than one print?

If your basket at checkout is more than £100 (including any discount codes) then  postage will be FREE

Do you sell Limited Edition prints?

No, I do not restrict my print work. Limited Edition would mean increased cost to the buyer and as it is digital image I would want it to be available to whoever wishes to purchase that image without any restriction.

Do you sign the print?

Yes, I  sign the print as standard in the bottom right hand corner of the image. If you do not want the print to be signed can you please make sure you state this when  submitting your order.

Moelwyn View Holiday Cottage

I have a holiday let which can be booked  directly (see website link  below). Moelwyn View is a mid-terraced, former Quarryman’s cottage which has been fully renovated (2018).  It is situated on the edge of the small, quiet village of Llan Ffestiniog, in the heart of Snowdonia National Park.

The village itself is located 180 metres above sea level and lies on the edge of the Migneint Moors with stunning views down to the Dwyryd Estuary, the beaches of Porthmadog and beyond to the Lleyn Peninsula. The cottage is close to the quieter hill walking areas but within easy reach of all the main attractions within the National Park and only twenty minutes drive to a beach. It sleeps 3 in two bedrooms and has wonderful views to the Manod Hills and the Moelwyn Mountains. There is a rear garden for sitting out and enjoying the sunset, a log burner for those chiller winter evenings and it even has the benefit of a community run pub 2 minutes walk away. For more information please visit the website.
